About Nancy
Recently retired as Artistic Director and Owner of Halestone Dance Studio in Lexington, Virginia (1996-2016), Saylor continues to teach a variety of regular classes in Lexington and offers master class workshops and seminars as a traveling guest artist.
Her teaching, choreography, and directing experience spans 4 decades and ranges from programs for preschool and school age children to dancers and productions on the university level and professional stage. As an active dancer in continuous training, Saylor incorporates a broad knowledge of contemporary somatic studies—Alexander Technique, Bartenieff Fundamentals, Body Mind Centering and Developmental Technique, Experiential Anatomy, Yoga, and Contact Improvisation—to support her artistic process and to inform her instructional methodology.
She specializes in helping people find their inner dancer and enjoys students of all types, ages, and levels of experience. In 2018-2019 Saylor attended Moving on Center, a Somatic Training program in Berkley, CA under the direction of Carol Swann.
